Global Development Delay (GDD)

Global developmental delay is a broader term used to describe a condition wherein child usually takes longer time than usual to reach his developmental milestones.

Usually these involves delay in:

  • Cognitive functioning: difficulty to think and learn.
  • Speech and language: has poor communication.
  • Social skills: lack of social interaction.
  • Daily activities: difficulty in performing daily activities like eating, bathing etc.
  • Motor skills: inability to sit upright, or crawl.
  • Lack of emotional development.
  • Intellectual disability.
